Smoke Sauna in the Archipelago of Ingå

new building

Ingå

On the seashore, sheltered by the surrounding bedrock, Livady designed a contemporary handcrafted peat-roofed smoke sauna.

The sauna stove, or kiuas, is operated from within a heating room under the sauna benches. The sauna and the chamber are divided by a narrow outdoor passage meant for washing and cooling off. The large stove and its insulated lid allow a fiercely hot evening sauna to be enjoyed the next morning – in a gentler form.
