Smoke Sauna in the Archipelago of Ingå
On the seashore, sheltered by the surrounding bedrock, Livady designed a contemporary hand-crafted peat roofed smoke-sauna.
The sauna stove, or kiuas, is operated from within a heating room under the sauna benches. The sauna and chamber are divided by a narrow outdoor pass which is meant for washing and cooling off. The large stove and its insulated lid make it possible for a fiercely hot evening sauna to be enjoyed the next morning – in a gentler form.
